The Story of Ram Dass — “Miracle of Love”
In 1967, the American professor Richard Alpert came to India and met Maharaj Ji in the Kumaon hills. Maharaj Ji told him things no one could have known — about his mother's passing and even the illness she died of. Transformed, he became Ram Dass, author of the classic Be Here Now and Miracle of Love, carrying Maharaj Ji's message of love and service to the West.
Steve Jobs, Mark Zuckerberg and Kainchi Dham
In 1974, a young Steve Jobs travelled to India to meet Neem Karoli Baba, reaching Kainchi Dham shortly after Maharaj Ji's mahasamadhi. The journey still shaped his life deeply. The Bhandara Miracle — Ghee from the Shipra
A beloved story from Kainchi Dham: during a great Bhandara, the ghee for the prasad ran out. Maharaj Ji instructed devotees to fill the cans with water from the Shipra river flowing beside the ashram. When the water was poured into the cooking pots, it had become ghee, and the prasad was completed. For devotees, this remains a symbol that nothing ever falls short where there is true faith and seva.
The Blanket-Wearing Baba
Maharaj Ji owned nothing but a simple plaid blanket. He refused worship of his person, ran away from fame, and often said “I am nobody.” Yet those who met him describe an ocean of unconditional love. He left his body on 11 September 1973 in Vrindavan, with the words “जय जगदीश हरे” on his lips.
